Indonesia Diving Information

Indonesia, consisting of about 18,000 islands, is a mysterious country where land and sea are yet unexplored. Recently, access has become even more convenient when visiting from Japan, however direct flights from Japan is only bound for Jakarta and Bali, and it is necessary to move east and west by domestic flights to go to most areas. Across the equator, about 3,000 km are countless diving areas that are spread throughout the country where the islands are marked. As it faces the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean and is divided by the famous Wallace Line, the areas are said to be a treasure trove of biodiversity, and the sea with its endemic species is considered a masterpiece. Attractions includes popular resorts such as Bali, Macro life treasures, Lembeh Manado, Ambon, and the Wakatobi Regency with its unspoiled seas and unexplored areas where migrating fish roams. Together with the Raja Ampat islands, and the famous world heritage island of Komodo, renown for the Komodo Dragons also exists numerous diving sites. Since the area is directly under the equator, you can dive year-round without the influence of typhoons. Not to mention that there are nearly 100 boats on the river, which travel around the area away from the resort on different routes according to the season, however, since various courses are taken according to the season, and they tend to be crowded with repeaters. Long trips are recommended to get the full experience since moving between areas can be time consuming.

 

 ウォーレシア（ワラセア） Wallacea

The epicenter of biodiversity.
19世紀に活躍していたイギリス人の生物学者、探検家にアルフレッド・ラッセル・ウォレスにちなんで 深い海峡によってアジアともオーストラリア大陸の大陸棚とも隔てられたインドネシアの島嶼の一群をウォーレシア（ワラセア）と呼んでいます。 ジャワ島、バリ島、ボルネオ島より東側と、ニューギニアと東ティモールの西側にあるインドネシア中心部の島々の 生物地理学的な区分です。バリ島とロンボク島はこのウォーレス線にて2分され、互いの島が見えるほどの距離なのに異なった生態系を呈しています。バリのビーチは黒砂なのに対して同じく火山島であるロンボク島にはホワイトサンドビーチが広がっています。 ウォーレシアは深い海峡によってアジア（スンダランド）ともオーストラリア大陸（サフールランド）とも隔てられており 長い歴史の中で大陸とつながったことが一度もない島です。 ネコ科のトラやライオン等の強大な捕食者がいないため弱肉強食とは無縁な世界だったことが 他の地域とは違った進化をもたらしたのです。 独特の進化を遂げたコモドドラゴン、クロザル、バビルサ等の動物たが今も暮らしています。
